Data Center /Cloud Infrastructure

We understand the complexities and costs of Data Center and Cloud Infrastructure supply chains

Making sure data center, cloud infrastructure and auxiliary equipment reach their destination damage-free is crucial, especially considering the high cost. That’s why the right packaging design is essential, but when shipping fully configured racks weighing over 3,000 pounds, it takes SPG’s expertise to get the packaging right.

That’s where our packaging design engineers come in. We analyze the specific configuration and dimensions of the equipment and develop custom, tailored packaging solutions.

Designing for data

Optimal solutions are achieved by considering the weight distribution of the infrastructure and strategically designing packaging that evenly distributes the load and minimizes stress on individual components during transit. We use advanced shock-absorption techniques and materials that cushion the equipment against impacts and vibrations during handling and transportation.

Our packaging solutions for data center and cloud infrastructure always account for environmental factors like sudden temperature fluctuations, humidity and potential exposure to dust or moisture. We integrate protective measures to safeguard the equipment against these potential risks. We can design ramps, foam supports and anti-shock floater bases, as well as blocks and braces, to enhance the efficiency of loading and unloading processes.

Through continuous testing, refinement, and collaboration with industry experts, we ensure that our packaging designs meet stringent standards for safety, reliability and efficiency.

SPG’s returnable data server rack crating system

results in less landfill waste

The traditional way of protecting server racks has been the use of polyethylene foam-lined wood crates and shock pallets. Downsides to this method include one-time use due to costly return shipment and difficulty knowing if foam remains intact after use.

SPG design engineers set out to design a returnable server crating system that is sustainable, versatile, and mitigates risks of damage to sensitive and valuable equipment. SPG’s groundbreaking, patent-pending returnable server crate technology does just that.

Patent Pending design

Durable and returnable: Crafted from durable steel and aluminum, SPG’s advanced design features multiple top protection options that are collapsible and stackable for return shipping.

ASTM certified protection: Engineered to meet ASTM standards, our returnable crates utilize an adjustable four-point suspension system in the base, integrated with superior dampening and rebound efficiencies for protection in rigorous shipping environments. ASTM testing showed no deterioration of dampening, a common downfall among traditional shock pallets that typically deteriorate within a few hours of vibration testing.

Better on the environment and your bottom line: This eco-friendly solution not only reduces carbon footprints but also cuts down on packaging costs, making them a green and financially prudent choice for shipping fully-configured cloud and data center infrastructure.
